Welcome to London Metropolitan class.
Mr Irons is the young looking teacher in the class, but rumour has it that he is very old!
He has been teaching at Buckfastleigh for nearly 100 years but loves it so much that he intends to stay for another 100 years!
Mrs Nash and Mrs Nicholson are the targeted learning support and together they make a positive, warm and welcoming environment in the class. We are always Safe, Ready and Respectful.
The year 3 and 4 curriculum hold the building blocks for a successful time for the rest of your school life. For this reason, London Metropolitan are expected to be ready to work and to be engaged in all of their lessons. Daring Pioneers is a word that will be used a lot in the class as all children are expected to rise to the challenges and skills that will be learnt throughout the year.
Morning sessions are focused on building skills in English, Maths and Spelling. This is done through learning new skills and having a chance to go back and consolidate them over time. Our afternoons are full of the remainder of the curriculum which is normally delivered through a topic which is changed each term.
How can you help at home?
Read with us for 30 minutes every day and ask us questions about the book to make sure we have understood it.
Fill in the reading record so that Mr Irons can see how much we are reading at home.
Encourage us to learn our times tables and related division facts - the more we know the better!
Help us to finish our home learning so that we are consolidating what we are learning in class.
Let us play Doodle Maths and Doodle Times Tables as both are a fantastic way for us to really secure our fluency and skills.
Mr Irons is in the playground at 8.35 every morning, so please see him if you have any concerns or questions about our learning. Alternatively, please book an appointment with the reception.
