Equality Statement

Equality Objectives

The Equality Act 2010 requires us to publish specific and measurable equality objectives.

Our equality objectives are based on our analysis of data and other information gained through monitoring activities. Our equality objectives aim to ensure equality of provision throughout the school community.

We will regularly review the progress we are making to meet our equality objectives.

Equality objective 1:

To narrow the pupil premium gap in reading, writing and maths for all year groups.

How we will achieve this

By identifying vulnerable groups and individuals and developing teaching and learning that is tailored to individual needs, thus ensuring good progress is sustained and achievement gaps can be closed

Equality objective 2:

All groups of pupils regularly attend school in line with National expectation.

How we will achieve this:

Pupils and parents are aware of the importance of attendance and this is reinforced by school staff. Introduction of SIMs register to raise awareness with classteachers of poor attendance so quick action can be taken.  We remind parents about attendance and punctuality through newsletters and letters. Attendance is emphasised with classes being awarded for the best attendance, the attendance Owl.

Individual attendance concerns raised with parents through meetings with the classteacher or Headteacher. Educational Welfare Officer involved where attendance rates have become a concern.

Equality objective 3:

Pupils respect one another and develop their understanding and appreciation of diversity.

How we will achieve this

The school will introduce a new beahviour reward system that focuses on learning achievement, tolerance and understanding. Assemblies will address issues of equality and diversity.
